What’s good for the environment is good for us

Contributing to wellbeing through environmental projects

Aim: To develop and implement a monitoring and evaluation framework across the charity to share how environmentally focused projects can additionally enable benefits to the wellbeing of the people taking part. Social and environmentally beneficial outcomes and impact.

Summary: Over the last few years environmental NGO Waste Watch had been developing their programmes and thinking to be able to create an evidence base for change to support their ‘Waste less, Live more’ vision.  This looks at combining social outcomes of participants from across their diverse environmental focused work programme in 2012/13, using the New Economics Foundations – 5 Ways to Wellbeing (nef) as a framework for evaluation.

Outcome: The report exemplified that the participants involvement in  pro-environmental activities had helped to contribute to enhancing their wellbeing through encouraging – connecting, being active, keepin learning, taking notice and giving. The summary report can be downloaded here – What’s good for the environment is good for us
