Aim: To inspire the next generation to think about the role of engineering in mitigation and adaption to climate change
Summary: I voluntarily coordinated and ran a number of sessions with groups of fantastic young volunteer engineers to run the day long Our World in 2050 STEM engagement activity with the IMechE Greater London Young Members panel. I ran this 4 times at 2 schools, in outer and central London.
“It’s always inspiring to see the creativity, enthusiasm and great ideas that the next generation can come up with!”
Outcome: Students learn’t about some of the challenges we’re facing in the next year around energy, waste & resources and transport. Then looking at these problems, using a design thinking process and engineering tools and techniques, in teams came up with and pitched solutions. Over the 4 session more than 300 students took part
